It’s the first year I’ve tried growing sweetcorn and early signs are promising. The plants are between 3 and 4 feet high and tassles have appeared whilst we were away.
And it looks like the cobs are forming.
Time will tell but it looks like we’ll be eating corn on the cob this year, can’t wait to try them!
Harvesting: Calabrese, Lettuce, Rocket, Radish, Tomatoes, Courgette, Broad Beans, French Beans, Squash, Strawberries, Raspberries.

Those sweetcorn are looking great (and way ahead of mine) when we first grew sweetcorn the taste was a revalation to us. It is on our must grow list every year.
Enjoy! J

If you’re growing your own veg, you must grow sweetcorn. There is no other veg which tastes so different from supermarket bought. Remember to have the water boiling ready to pop it in to straight after picking, delicious. I’m really envious as I didn’t plant my sweetcorn out. The seeds germinated ok but the the plants didn’t seem to want to grow and started yellowing. I’m wondering now if it’s something to do with growing in toilet roll inners as I didn’t have a successful crop last year either, but previous years when the seed was sown in plantpots they were brilliant. Back to plantpots for me then next year.

That’s a shame Jo, definitely go back to plant pots next time. I think toilet roll inners are OK for some veg but I’ve noticed they don’t always work. Can’t wait to taste the cobs, will have the pan ready!

Looking good, and way better than mine! The taste is out of this world as I discovered last year. Have a good weekend!
